PETERBOROUGH ONLINE CANDY BUSINESS SET UP BY 14-YEAR-OLD LAUNCHES INNOVATIVE FREE HOME DELIVERY SERVICE
An online sweet shop set up by a 14-year-old student has proved so successful that it has, this week just launched a first-of-its-kind free home delivery service for customers in the local Peterborough and Huntingdon areas.
Caitlin Russell came up with the idea for The Candy King – Retro Sweet Hampers, an online pick ‘n’ mix sweet shop, as part of her GCSE Business Studies course.
With the help of her parents, she launched the business on social media before setting up a website that offers customers a choice of more than 100 sweets and treats, including childhood favourites such as Foam Shrimps, Sherbet Lemons, Liquorice All sorts, and Jelly Beans.
One of the main factors was being able to give customers, custom made pick 'n' mix sweets and that sales were made to order. Many sweet business bulk mix their sweets in advance, but not all sweets mix well together over time and pre-mixed pouches can sit, un sold for days or weeks. Having freshly made custom pick n mix along with sweet jars, celebration boxes and hampers was key to Caitlin's sweet business idea and giving customers the freshest best quality sweets she could.
